Year Two

It’s hard to believe my nephew is already two! I snapped a couple shots from his birthday party and couldn’t help putting some up!

It took a bit of coaching to get G to swing at his pinata. He absolutely loves volleyball (he can set, bump, and spike), and hitting a giant volleyball with a plastic bat somehow wasn’t instinctual to him. Huh. 🙂

Pinata

The incredible football cake! He may not look it, but he was crazy excited about this…

I figured a birthday party is a perfect time to introduce a two-year-old to the wonders of candy necklaces. It took him a bit to figure out how to get the candies off, but he loved it!

What better way to end a birthday than by sitting on the deck eating “can-ny” (aka fresh peas) with Grandma!? I absolutely love this picture!

The *C* Family!

It’s so fun to see my clients grow up! Not to mention expand! This fantastic family went from three to four since I last saw them!

I love the tutus. That is something I will definitely be investing in for my little girl! 🙂

6-5038

And yes–this darling newborn really is as calm and easy-going as she looks in these pictures. An absolute breeze to work with!

7-5036

I love how surprised she looks here!

8-5032

Hahahah. The curious big sister. But mostly I love the diaper/tutu combo. 🙂

10-5092

And a funny one to end it… One thing I’ve found as I’ve photographed newborns is that you never really know what you are gonna get when it comes to their hands. You can try and position them, and sometimes they’re okay with it, and other times their hands are off limits! In this case, we got a gangstah thinking face–stroking the goatee… Yeah. You show em’ who’s boss! Love it.

Speaking of Babies…

My older sister just had her second boy about a month ago, and I got the chance to photograph her newborn! (Naturally I took the opportunity to snag some of her older boy, too…)

We started out by taking some in the studio. To keep “G” occupied, I showed him the “flashing lights”! My way of combining distraction with fun photo opportunities for me… 🙂

Doesn’t he look so serene here? Hahah. Don’t worry… We know better…

This is what he does when you tell him to smile. 🙂

Here we go! Little “I”… He loved that throw.

6-3889

7-3874

8-3901

A day or so later we met up at my Mom’s for some natural light shots. We were planning to shoot some outside, but go figure–thunderstorm. But we made it work.

9-3936

I love this shot on the piano bench. Love love love.

10-3991

Check out his adorable little lips!

11-3946

We thought it would be fun to try a couple shots of “I” surrounded by his ancestors. Thanks, mom, for letting us steal from the mantle! 🙂

12-4026

This was actually an hour or two after the shoot. Little “I” liked this new throw of mine so much that we decided to let him finish his nap in it. I came back an hour or so later, and found this!

13-4082

The thunderstorm eventually ended and I couldn’t resist taking “G” out for some puddle jumping!

14-4094

15-4096

16-4099

This one (below) is one of those where I don’t really understand why I love it. Maybe it’s the bright colors… Maybe it’s how cool his hair looks. I dunno. I just like it!

17-4135

The one umbrella shot of the day. 🙂 He wasn’t the biggest fan of holding the umbrella, let alone over his head. Oh well. I’m content with this shot. 🙂

18-4118

Stay tuned! There will be more of these cuties to come! Once the newly-acquired goose eggs on “G”‘s forehead heal completely, we’ll be venturing out for a family portrait session! 🙂

The *C* Family

I had the fun opportunity to meet with this family a week ago to take some family portraits! We met up above Aspen Grove, and it was beautiful! A little chilly, but I personally found the cooler temperatures to be refreshing!

I love grandparent and grandchildren pictures. They can be tricky, but this time I had help… 🙂

11-3559

See what I mean???

12-3564

Four girls….

13-3592

And four boys make for a pretty balanced family!

14-3614

And because you all know I can’t resist jumping pictures when they present themselves… 🙂 At one point they were discussing possibly spelling something, but if that’s what they were going for in this one, the word is lost on me… Any guesses???

15-3627

Thanks for a wonderful evening! You have a beautiful family!

A Day with Goober-stink Chubby-calves

Yup. You read right. That is what we lovingly call my nephew. We figure that way, if he ever becomes a general authority he can be called Elder G. Stink Chubby-calves, Elder G.S. Chubby-calves, Goober S. Chubby-calves…. I mean seriously. The possibilities are endless. 🙂 Kirby and I got to spend a couple hours with G.S. while his parents went out to Ruby River Steakhouse for his mom’s birthday! YUM. During the course of our time with him, we ate cheetos, drank kool-aid, strut our stuff in super-swank sunglasses, and took pictures of each other. Well, his taking pictures of me consisted of me taking a picture of myself so he could see it in the LCD screen when it popped up afterwards… But here are some of my favorites! I used my new lens, and I love the depth of field!

When I first pulled out the camera G.S. decided to smile for me… This was the closest it actually got to looking happy… It originally looked somewhat-tortured. Yup. I busted up laughing.

9525

Did I mention we played with all-things-electronic? 🙂

9553

A little black and white–just to shake things up… 🙂

9548

And yes. Couldn’t pass up the gorgeous day! Doesn’t he look so inspiring/inspired here? Insert Chariots of Fire theme song…

9558

Well hey–thanks for looking! Keep an eye out! I’m working on three different sessions right now, with two more to come next week! Phew! Open the floodgates!

Big Happy Family!

I had the opportunity to meet this family a couple weeks ago! I haven’t had a chance to get this up yet, but here it finally is! 🙂 These are some of my favorites from the windy (but warm!) afternoon!

1-8887

I got a lot of this from her initially, but eventually she warmed up. 🙂 Personally, I love this one.

2-8593

3-8581

6 girls! Needless to say, Dad was happy when his daughters started to get married, thus balancing out the male:female ratio a bit!

4-8659

5-8850

There we go!

6-8867

7-8671

8-8791

I love the complimentary colors here!

9-90511

Thanks again for a great day! 🙂
