Year Two

It’s hard to believe my nephew is already two! I snapped a couple shots from his birthday party and couldn’t help putting some up!

It took a bit of coaching to get G to swing at his pinata. He absolutely loves volleyball (he can set, bump, and spike), and hitting a giant volleyball with a plastic bat somehow wasn’t instinctual to him. Huh. 🙂

Pinata

The incredible football cake! He may not look it, but he was crazy excited about this…

I figured a birthday party is a perfect time to introduce a two-year-old to the wonders of candy necklaces. It took him a bit to figure out how to get the candies off, but he loved it!

6462

What better way to end a birthday than by sitting on the deck eating “can-ny” (aka fresh peas) with Grandma!? I absolutely love this picture!

Josh & Julie :: ENGAGED

Well holy smokes! I had one rough time decided which pictures to include in this post! There were just too many I loved! I grew up with Josh and Julie, so when they asked me to shoot their engagements I was thrilled. There’s something that is just so much fun about photographing people you already have a relationship with!

At one point during the shoot, I was attacked by a wasp. Okay, okay… so pestered would probably be a more accurate term. But still–how on earth am I supposed to focus on being a photographer with a wasp buzzing around me!?!? 🙂 Josh was kind enough to eliminate my problem for me, while Julie and I huddled on the sidelines. Thanks for being the hero of the day, Josh!

3-5927

I love this shot of spontaneous dancing. Yup. They just started dancing! Loved it!

4--5933

This shot is probably one of my favorites from the day. I love how the colors and focus turned out, and it just makes me feel happy inside. PAH. I love my cheezy!

Yummy sun…

7-6102

Yeah. That water was pretty cold. (You’ll see this a bit more later…)

8-6212

Because she’s gorgeous. Seriously.

9-6063

Respect to Julie for this one! I know I couldn’t pull off a pose like that! Josh came close, though… 😉

10-6394

Some bloopers from the day… Love them.

HOW GREAT IS THIS!? They worked it.

Oh yeah. Did I mention how gorgeous Julie is!?

Yeah. Gorgeous. I feel like I’m repeating myself. Am I repeating myself??? 😉

Thanks so much, you two! I had a blast! Can’t wait for the wedding day!

Chris and Kathy… Married!

We fought the weather again this wedding day, but lucked out once again! Thanks, Chris and Kathy for a fantastic day!

Oh… and can I just say I love this shot?? I love when the bride and/or groom look ecstatic and excited when they walk out of the temple!

1-5172

2-5341

Yeah… Kathy had a couple more important things to do than take pictures… 😉

I love the red roses with the white lilies!

Come on… you didn’t think I’d leave without making them jump, did you?

10-5484

I. Love. This. Shot. Love it.

11-5496

12-5511

The cake… Even though the decorative frosting came black instead of red, I thought it was gorgeous!

13-5517

14-5520

What’s better than watching a bride and groom take their first dance as man and wife? Watching them dance while people pin money on them! SO COOL! Basically, everyone would take turns cutting in, but in order to do so, they had to pin money to the bride and groom! BRILLIANT!

15-5681

Cake time!

16-Cake

I love these shots from the bouquet toss. I adore catching fun reactions from the lucky girl (or woman) that catches the bouquet!

17-Bouquet

And last but not least… the garter. In this case, two! All the more fun, right??

18-Garters

And yes… The little boys got them both. I love how annoyed some of the more mature prospects look… Sorry guys. Maybe next time?? 🙂

Dancing the Night Away…

It’s not too often I get hired to do something other than weddings or portrait sessions, so when my good friend Dave Smith called me up to see if I could take some pictures at a dance he was DJing, I was thrilled! And a little intimidated–let’s be honest, here! Super low light, lots of movement… it would be a new experience for me! But I was crazy-excited to give it my best shot! It was quite the dance, too! It was all I could do to keep myself from dancing with the young’uns for a couple songs! If any of you are in the market for a DJ, check out Dave’s site! www.playituputah.com. He’ll throw you a killer party!

This is my favorite shot from the night… I love the color and the energy!

Brian and Lindsay :: Wedding Day!

These two were happily married about a month ago, and it has taken me this long to get their post up! With a surprise trip to Oregon for a funeral, plus a family reunion, along with all the other activities of summer, plus photo shoots, I have been busy busy busy!

2-4336

3-4372

4-4388

Yup. Check out that sky. When they first exited the temple it was sunshiney and hot, and by the time we finished with the couple pictures it was pouring. Yup. Pouring.

Speaking of Babies…

My older sister just had her second boy about a month ago, and I got the chance to photograph her newborn! (Naturally I took the opportunity to snag some of her older boy, too…)

We started out by taking some in the studio. To keep “G” occupied, I showed him the “flashing lights”! My way of combining distraction with fun photo opportunities for me… 🙂

Doesn’t he look so serene here? Hahah. Don’t worry… We know better…

1-3854

2-3857

3-3861

This is what he does when you tell him to smile. 🙂

4-3919

5-3921

Here we go! Little “I”… He loved that throw.

6-3889

7-3874

8-3901

A day or so later we met up at my Mom’s for some natural light shots. We were planning to shoot some outside, but go figure–thunderstorm. But we made it work.

9-3936

I love this shot on the piano bench. Love love love.

10-3991

Check out his adorable little lips!

11-3946

We thought it would be fun to try a couple shots of “I” surrounded by his ancestors. Thanks, mom, for letting us steal from the mantle! 🙂

12-4026

This was actually an hour or two after the shoot. Little “I” liked this new throw of mine so much that we decided to let him finish his nap in it. I came back an hour or so later, and found this!

13-4082

The thunderstorm eventually ended and I couldn’t resist taking “G” out for some puddle jumping!

14-4094

15-4096

16-4099

This one (below) is one of those where I don’t really understand why I love it. Maybe it’s the bright colors… Maybe it’s how cool his hair looks. I dunno. I just like it!

17-4135

The one umbrella shot of the day. 🙂 He wasn’t the biggest fan of holding the umbrella, let alone over his head. Oh well. I’m content with this shot. 🙂

18-4118

Stay tuned! There will be more of these cuties to come! Once the newly-acquired goose eggs on “G”‘s forehead heal completely, we’ll be venturing out for a family portrait session! 🙂
