Fantabulous Mentor Session!

Saturday afternoon I got to meet up with a *now* friend to teach her a bit about how to make her pictures pop! We did a back to back session–one for composition techniques, and one for Photoshop. It was a lot of fun to get to know Amanda, as well as her fantastic daughter and niece! Here are some of my favorites that I shot during the session…

I don’t know about you, but this face would wrangle a ice cream cone or cookie out of me…

Teehee… Pretty sure I told her to give me the biggest frown she had, and this is what I got!

Cheesy grin! LOVE IT!

They were much more excited about seeing train tracks this close than getting their pictures taken.

I feel like this all the time….

Queen/Princess of the mountain!

She’s a reader! I love the focus and colors in this one.

The end! Thanks for looking! Feel free to comment! I love those! 🙂

Families are Forever…

Last weekend I was able to photograph this beautiful family after their adopted son, C, was sealed to them! What a fun day! We were lucky enough to catch the weather in between snow storms and it was in the 40’s!

“Ewwww! MOOOOM!!!”

So, it was absolutely impossible to catch C’s attention here–even with me and two other helpful people jumping around and whooping our heads off! So instead, we decided to have a nice thoughtful picture… 🙂

The "K" Family

I’m not sure if I can express how completely delightful it was to work with this family! We started out in the studio, and then ventured out into the freezing tundra to try some outdoor shots.

No inlaws in this one… Poor guys…

So “Dad” collects cowboy hats (which, by the way, I think is just about the coolest thing to collect!) and so we had to get a cowboy shot of the guys…

They’re hardcore…

Darling? Yeah. That’s what I thought. I love giving a prop like this to a toddler and then seeing what they decide to do with it.

Does she look shocked or what? I think I busted up laughing when I first saw this one.

And yes. We had to do a luau shot. And for those wondering–those are not my fantastic Hawaiian shirts. Or my leis. But that would be awesome.

Oh–did I mention that freezing cold tundra? Yeah. You’ve arrived. Nah. It was a lot of fun. And I like the snow-capped mountings we get in the reflections of these windows. Kind of a cool effect.

J is into acting, so we got a couple head shots. Maybe some day he’ll be on Broadway and I can say, “I KNOW HIM!!!!”

Didn’t they do a great job pretending they didn’t have snow in their shoes? Fantastic.

Yeah. I had to throw this one at the end because I love it. I’m not entirely sure if I got all their heights correct. I didn’t measure them all before they left… so… I had to guess. Let me know what you think. Does anyone look funny? (as in too tall, too short, too small.)

Thanks again for a fantastic time! If I meet any real cowboys who are willing to sell their hats we’ll be in touch! 🙂

The C Family!

Holey Moley! This post is a biggie! But totally worth it! This family is fantastic. I can’t even explain how much fun it was to work with them. I’m actually not sure if I ever stopped laughing during the shoot. 🙂

Can you see why???

Oh yeah… did I mention that I love this couch?

Hahah. I’ve never seen Santa looking so… threatened?? He’s probably wondering what happened to the little elf who’s hat is being devoured by Little T. 🙂

Not related, but might as well be. 🙂 The K’s slipped in for a quick picture.

J is off to DC for her internship there. Jealous!? Yeah. That’s what I thought.

Mom and Dad…

I wish I had some pajamas like this…

I LOVE this shot. I love all the colors popping out. Yum. I may or may not have drooled over some of those cute coats… 🙂

Thanks again for a great time, and thanks for being patient! With painting my house, Christmas, and my two-year anniversary, they had to wait a couple days extra for their pictures. THANKS!

Meet the Fantastic C Family!

This fun family came into town for thanksgiving and so we got together to get some family pictures taken! It was a chilly morning, but they stuck it out! I feel like I’ve said that about every family I’ve photographed the past month, but it never fails to amaze me what conditions people will suffer through for family pictures! 🙂

This little girlie was the greatest cheeseball on the planet! There were way to many to choose from, half of them sending me into fits of giggles. So… you’ll just have to settle with a couple. 🙂

Yeah, I know. No smile here. But for some reason I love this forlorn little stare. Almost as though he’s asking himself, “Seriously? You’re STILL HERE!?”

Pretty sure I love this shot. I love the colors reflecting off the water! And, of course, the fantastic couple sitting on the log–couldn’t have done it without them! 🙂

Lots of wonderful dead leaves to play with! Lil’ Mr. C loved them!

Yeah. Chilly. As previously mentioned.

Love LOVE LOVE!!!

This one sends me into one of those giggle fits I mentioned before. Come on… tell me you’re not laughing your head off right now…

THE END. 🙂
